High Bridge Women's Group
The High Bridge Women's Group is beginning its 30th Club Year. Our first meeting was held in June 1979. On September 10, 1980, we were incorporated in the State of New Jersey. The group was formed to contribute to charitable, civic, educational and cultural activities that support the Community of High Bridge.
The Women's Group continues to be a strong and dedicated local women's service organization. The Annual Town-Wide Garage Sale is organized by the Women's Group. The proceeds always go back to the community. Scholarship awards are given to a girl and boy from High Bridge who are graduating from Voorhees High School. US Savings Bonds are given to a girl and boy graduating from the High Bridge Middle School. The High Bridge Fire Department, Rescue Squad, and the Food Pantry all benefit from the Town-Wide Garage Sale. The members of the Women's Group help to serve donuts and cider at the Halloween Parade. Do you have any idea how many plastic colored eggs are stuffed with jelly beans for the Easter Egg Hunt? A LOT! That job has been done by the Women's Group for many, many years. On a social scale, our monthly out-to-dinner night is always an enjoyable time.
If you would like to help with many of these projects and meet some terrific people, please come as our guest to one of our meetings. We meet at Borough Hall on the 4th Tuesday of every month at 7:30 pm.
Cookies with Santa - December 6, 2008
The High Bridge Women's Group has arranged a visit from Santa once again this year. He'll be at Borough Hall on Saturday, December 6, from 1:00pm until 3:00 pm. This is a special time to come and visit with Santa in person! Cookies and punch will be served and the children can listen to a story while waiting to see Santa. Bring your own camera for a great photo opportunity or you can purchase a Polaroid photo for a small fee.
Santa's Mailbox
The Women's Group will also be helping Santa with some of his holiday chores. Santa's mailbox will be in front of Borough Hall from the Saturday after Thanksgiving until December 18th. Any letter to Santa received that have a return address, will receive a hand-written response from Santa before Christmas.
