The Mayor and Council held two meetings in July where the potential sale of the Borough Water Utility will be discussed and considered.

A special meeting was held on Thursday, July 13, 2017 where American Water made a brief presentation and responded to questions from the Council. Members of the public attended this meeting, listened to the presentation and question and answer session for the Council members and posed questions themselves.

The July 13th meeting was an informational opportunity prior to the first decision at the regular Council meeting on Thursday, July 20, 2017. The decision that the Council made is to introduce an ordinance to place a public question on the November 2017 general election ballot where High Bridge voters will make the final determination about whether or not the Borough sells the water utility. The ordinance was approved at the Council meeting on August 17, 2017 after a public hearing. Other regular business will be transacted then, too.

Additional information will be forthcoming and information meetings will be held leading up to November to assist Borough voters to have their questions answered before voting. There will be four Town Hall meetings scheduled for this purpose — on September 14 at 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM at the Fire House, and on October 7 at 10:00 AM and October 17 at 7:30 PM at the Elementary School.
