Please be advised that on or about Monday, August 31, 2020, work on the Main Street – Phase 2 Streetscape Project will commence.  The project limits extend from just north of McDonald Street to Church Street, and will be an extension of the original Streetscape Project that was completed on Main Street some years ago.  The proposed improvements include removing and replacing curbs and sidewalks, installing select drainage improvements and installing pedestrian streetlights.  Construction will be taking place Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, and the project is anticipated to last no more than 60 days.

During working hours, there will be a partial detour implemented to ensure a safe working environment and allow for work to be completed more efficiently.  This detour will include closing the travel lane and parking on the side of the road that the contractor is working and detouring that traffic around the work site via Mill Street and McDonald Street.  The opposite lane of traffic and parking will remain open.  In essence, Main Street will function as a one-lane road during construction between McDonald Street and Church Street.  Starting Monday, August 31,  the contractor has indicated that they propose to start work on the west side of Main Street near the Commons Park.  Therefore, the southbound travel lane of Main Street will be closed/detoured while the northbound lane will remain open.  This pattern will remain in effect until all work is completed on the west side of the road.  The contractor will then move to the east side of the road and the detour will be revised accordingly.  As always, the Borough and its contractor will make every effort to keep the interruptions to a minimum and complete this project as quickly as possible.
