2025 High Bridge Paint Out Registration

There are few things as inspiring as taking a brush to canvas outdoors, capturing the beauty of a fleeting moment. This practice, known as Plein Air Painting, traces its roots in Impressionism and Post-Impressionism and has grown into a celebrated tradition with competitions across the country.

The High Bridge Paint Out has become one of the most anticipated cultural events of the year, offering artists a unique opportunity to capture the spirit of plein air painting while showcasing the natural beauty of our area.

For the 2025 Paint Out, we will be accepting artist registrations through April 19th for both the Adult Division (16+) and Junior Division (5-15). This year we are also introducing the Beyond Canvas Division, expanding beyond traditional painting techniques. This new category invites artists to submit work in a variety of formats, including but not limited to sculpture, fiber arts, mixed media, silkscreen or lithograph print, collage, animation and photography. Our goal is to make the event more accessible and inclusive for artists working in diverse mediums.

In line with our mission to foster a creative community by expanding access to all forms of art, we are implementing a new pricing guideline to promote accessibility and support our artists. All adult submissions must have a minimum starting bid no higher than $200, making artwork more attainable for patrons while increasing the potential for sales. Additionally, for those interested, any unsold artwork from the May 4th event will be promoted for sale online for the following week. We hope these changes enhance sales for our artists and help raise funds for future creative initiatives in the borough.

The final exhibition and silent auction will take place on May 4th, 2025, in downtown High Bridge, where all submitted works will be displayed for a juried competition. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in both the General Adult and Junior Divisions, as well as the 1st place winner in the Beyond Canvas Division.
