History of the Post:

Herbert Cawley, born December 27, 1894, was the first of eight children born to Arthur James Cawley (March 1, 1864 to September 10, 1930). He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on March 29, 1918 at Allentown, Pennsylvania as a 2nd Class Baker. Serial number 12-27-94. He was sent to Wissahicken Barracks, Cape May New Jersey, then to Pier 19, North Philadelphia in August 1918. He was transferred to Section Base Lewis Delaware on October 5, 1918. He was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with pneumonia and died October 18, 1918. He was buried in Asbury, New Jersey on October 24, 1918.
